Staffelsee Gold

Weißbier

(Sourced rating)

Staffelsee Gold is a hop-forward Bavarian wheat beer from Brauerei Karg, brewed at 5.8% ABV and bottle-conditioned with fine yeast. It pours hazy deep gold to amber, with reports ranging from honeyed orange to light brown beneath a pale, persistent head. The aroma combines banana-led wheat-beer fruitiness with citrus, mandarin, tropical fruit and floral hop notes. Flavor follows with banana, orange and lightly bready wheat, joined by herbal and spicy accents and a firmer hop presence than a standard Hefeweizen. The body is medium to moderately full with lively carbonation, while the finish is long, fruity, gently tart and dry, with restrained lingering bitterness.
